"Woof! Arf arf... arf arf... woof!"
"Oh? Really"
"Phoena? What's the matter with Myolun? What's he barking at?
"He said, the Year of the Dog is coming up and that's his year to shine. Right?"
"Woof!"
"Oh? What do you mean?"
"Woof woof! Woof woof woof... woof! Arf arf arf arf... woof!
"And he says, get 1 prysma a day just by logging in between 2/15 and 2/19, and get 5 prysmas just by logging in on 2/20! Am I right?"
"Woof!"
"You're so cool, Myolun."
"Didn't know Myolun is so sweet... You didn't see that coming too eh, Captain?"
"......"

TWCC 3.4: What you can look forward to
As is typical with any major update, make sure you set a transfer password.
Here are the change log between 3.2.2 (where we are at now) and 3.4.1, our next version.
3.3
- New game mode "Chronicle Tower".
- New item: Fortune Sphere
- Sort Book 3 main stories by main characters in the main quest list.
- Skip arcana animation when receiving non-character arcanas from the gift box.
- If your character limit is full while you obtain a new character, tapping Skip will show a message that they are sent to gift box.
- 3.3.1-3.3.2 are bugfixes.
- 3.3.3 lays the groundwork for Book 3 chapter 5.
- New game mode "Big March".
- Slide up to activate Chronicle's Power. In 3.3 it was just a tap. This is to prevent unintended activation.
- When using a special skill that creates a barrier, show a countdown timer on remaining hits it can take.
- Scenario list now arranged from newest to oldest.
- Exploration bonuses now change every 3 days instead of daily.
- Some adjustments.
- Adds a "Outer Sea" in the Book 3 overworld map.
- New players can skip tutorial.
- Enriched drops from daily quests, but...
- Daily quests now limited to 2 clears each.
- Changes to some Starter missions. You will no longer need to include the 3★ main characters in your team.

How is TWCC different?
TWCC is more than just the Taiwan/Chinese version of Chain Chronicle where everything is in Chinese instead of Japanese. There are quite a few noteworthy differences from the Japanese original JPCC.
Pulls are cheaper
Each pull at a gacha costs 5 prysmas in JPCC; in TWCC it costs 4. However, if you also play JPCC you'll notice we get a lot less resources for free. Something's gotta give I guess.
Bow-toting Archers shoot faster
They by default shoot one arrow every 2 seconds. In TWCC they shoot one every 1.5 seconds. Gunners, snipers, magicians don't have this benefit though.
Flying Pirika
TWCC has an additional section hidden inside an icon that looks like a flying Pirika in the overworld screen, where some TWCC stuff that don't fit in the system otherwise go. This is what you get once you tap it. (You may need to scroll down a little bit.)
Any big banners you scroll past link to pages for special event bonuses where available. When such bonuses are available, I'll say in a post like "pick up from a banner inside flying Pirika." It means come here.
Lindsey is a big one. She links to a page where you can get second daily login bonus by tapping a big purple button. It is random and can be anything from gold to revival fruit to prysmas and premium tickets. The bonus goes to your gift box. Once you get it, the big purple button will do nothing until the next day. Rule of thumb: Go there after you get your standard daily login bonus.
Yoshitsugu is an even bigger one. Tap him, then Fatima, to get at another of TWCC's hidden treats: A full set of rewards for reaching a certain player rank, starting with rank 5, then every 5 until 100. As you reach the rank the button will light up. Tap it to get the reward. It should be obvious what the rewards are, so I will leave you to explore them.
If you participated in a TWCC freebie event (one was done just before TWCC goes version 3) and were given a serial number, Cheery is where you go to redeem it. On this front JPCC is easier where one can just tap a link that starts the game and everything just works.
Lilith goes to a members area where you supposedly are able to link your TWCC game to Mobimon's own service, which is said to allow you to look up the transfer ID and password should you lose it. It never worked for me, so staying on top of your transfer password is still your best bet.
Minoa is another set of terms and conditions.
No Lobi support, ever
TWCC never had integration with Lobi, the Japanese gameplay video sharing service. Not that it matters much anyway, because this Lobi service shuts down at the end of February for the Japanese as well.
No mentor system
If you also play JPCC, you may have happen across a mechanism where you can find a mentor to help you along in your early game (up to rank 50) or later be a mentor of up to 3 newbies, and both get additional free resources.
It never happened in TWCC.
Weekly maintenance window
TWCC has a routine maintenance window usually every Thursdays between 14:00-17:00 UTC+8 (1am-4am EST) when you won't be able to enter the game. This is where event changeover happens, and is usually announced a day in advance with a hint of what's next.
100+ Original characters
TWCC has some autonomy when it comes to characters, and we have some pretty OP personalities we can call our own. To date they are all either SR or SSR. Some can even be obtained from regular taverns. I'll go into details with them in their own posts.

Welcome
Welcome to Unchained Chronicle, a new blog dedicated to English-speaking players of the line defense mobile RPG Chain Chronicle. I'll do my best to provide news, information, guides and translations for this game so you as a player can enjoy all the content all the versions has to offer.
Did I say "all the versions?" You bet I did. There are two currently active versions:
JPCC - the original hit from Japan.
TWCC - A traditional Chinese version officially operating in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, but playable pretty much anywhere.
There were also other versions for China (CNCC), Korea (KRCC) and rest of the world (GCC), but they all shut down some time in 2016... but that last one may change.
I am putting more focus on TWCC because English resources for it are scarce, and it has some really good original stories of its own as well, and I am making it my goal to share those with you so you can appreciate the extras TWCC offers.
Yes, that screenshot you just saw is GCC's title card, complete with my actual ID at the time. It was taken in October 2015.
Our content roadmap would be, in no particular order:
- Re-host the various guides currently living on the Chain Chronicle Forum
- Translated info for characters specific to TWCC (there's over 100 of them!)
- Translations for TWCC-specific stories
And so, on with the journey!
